Floating the Boat Again in Potomac

The Charles F. Mercer Canal Boat will be returning to service at the C&O Canal National Historical Park at Great Falls this spring for mule-drawn boat rides. Stay tuned for more information from the Park.
The Charles Mercer Canal Boat has been up on blocks and out of service for some time, but that time is coming to an end.

April 16 - 24 is National Park Week, and this year the theme is Park Connections. Celebrate the C&O Canal National Historical Park.


Canal Community Day events. C&O Canal Trust will hold its first event of the season on April 23 at the C&O Canal National Historical Park Great Falls. Volunteers of all ages are needed to help perform cleanup and beautification projects. Fill out the registration form to sign up.

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. The day connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors.

The C&O Canal Trust will hold fun and educational activities at Fletchers Cove. Explore a wild, diverse world that may be brand-new to you or might feel like part of your own backyard. The C&O Canal Trust will be on hand with family-friendly activities, challenges and tools to help visitors of all ages learn more about the natural, human, and historical resources all around us.
