Glimpse of Nature Around Potomac

A juvenile Cooper's Hawk (or possibly a Sharp Shinned Hawk, it’s hard for a casual observer to tell the difference) watching a Potomac  backyard bird feeder intently. Either Cooper’s or Sharp Shinned, both primarily eat song birds. 


Female yellow-bellied sapsucker. These woodpeckers are winter visitors in Potomac and will head north soon. 


Male Northern Cardinal being buffeted a bit in the breeze on Tuesday.


There are three cherry trees that bloom within 50 yards or so of each other here, but not at the same time. This is tree number two.
